Register to vote in next year's elections!
To vote in the presidential primary next February 5, you must register to vote by January 7, 2008.
Voter registration forms are available at the Board of Elections Office in downtown Athens, the Athens Regional Library on Baxter St., the ACC Tag Office on Lexington Rd., the State Patrol Office on Hwy 29, and online at www.sos.state.ga.us/elections.

Paul Broun wins the special election for US Representative of Georgia's 10th District
Paul Broun edged out Jim Whitehead to be the next congressman to take Charlie Norwood's place.

The runoff was very close with Broun receiving only 50.4% of the vote.
The results of the general election on June 19th ended with Whitehead receiving 44% and Broun receiving only 21%.

Andy Herod wins the Special Election for District 8 Commissioner
Andy Herod won the March 20 election against David Hamilton by a vote of 720 to 456. Commissioner Herod will succeed States McCarter, who resigned in February. Voter turnout for the election was 20% of registered voters.
